The Bedwell Butterfly Garden

Summer Vegetable Cart
The Green Team strives to help students learn more about their environment. Our various sub-committees concentrate on different environmental aspects: Recycling, Annual Tomato Plant Sale, Fall Bulb Sale and our Gardens (Butterfly Garden, Native Species Area and the Vegetable Garden). Through these subcommittees we are able to give the students opportunities to practice good habits when it comes to recycling, understanding plant and insect life cycles and making environmentally conscious choices in all areas of daily life.

In September, the Green Team will introduce a "Waste-Free-Wednesday" lunch policy in our lunchroom.  Please help us in reducing the amount of trash and increasing our recycling efforts.

Most recently, the Green Team, in cooperation with the staff and administration, has focused its efforts on making the inner courtyard gardens a hands-on learning area for Bedwell students.  It is now an outdoor classroom, for all subjects from technology and math to science and art. One proud accomplishment this past year has been the recognition of our very own Mr. James "Mac" McCarron as the recipient of the prestigious 2017 Patricia Abernathy Hull Award by The Garden Club of America.  The link can be found here:

The Green Team has many more wonderful ideas and programs ahead, which are made possible with funds generated through the Fall Bulb Sale, the Annual Tomato Sale and most importantly sub-committee volunteers like you!  Also, the installation of the pond will be happening this summer - thank you for your support!
